The Oak Park suburb is within the Oak Park Township. It is located on the west side of Chicago. Oak Park is bordered by the city of Chicago on the east, and the towns of River Forest, Berwyn, and Cicero on its remaining sides. It is a charming little town with a big city feel.
In the mid nineteenth century, railroads were built in the area that lead to an explosion in population. In the twentieth century the area welcomed prominent architects who built beautiful and glorious homes for the city’s elite. Also, the area became well known after Ernest Hemingway, the world famous author born in the Oak Park, wrote about the town in several of his works.
Today Oak Park provides plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. The suburb is home to historic homes, as well as affordable apartments and housing within its several distinct neighborhoods. These include the world-famous Frank Lloyd Wright homes, apartments, single-family homes on quiet residential streets, as well as easy access to plenty of transportation options like the Metra, the Blue Line and Green Line trains, and city buses.
