Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect is a suburb in Elk Grove and Wheeling Townships, in Cook County, Illinois. It is located about 22 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Mount Prospect is bordered by Arlington Heights, Glenview, Rolling Meadows, and Des Plaines.

The area was primarily settled by Germans who worked hard to establish a community with the intention to preserve their religious and cultural traditions. Most of the community members were German speaking farmers throughout the late 1800s and their farming traditions slowly began to shift from substinence farming to commercial farming. With the development of the Mount Prospect train station, they truly began to sell their goods in other communities. The town took off from there and new shops opened up in order to diversify the commercial activity. With the coming of the baby boom, the services offered in the area truly expanded.

Mount Prospect has a diverse population of over 56,000 people. Residents who live in Mount Prospect can enjoy the comforts of a small town, as well as strong retail and professional businesses in the area. An extensive school system makes it an ideal place to raise children and its easy access to Highways 90 and 294 allow easy transportation to the city of Chicago and other suburbs. Homes in Mount Prospect are mostly 3 to 4 bedroom single-family homes as well as 2 to 3 bedroom condos and town homes.
